About

My name is Jess and I am a senior, hoping to graduate this semester.  My original major was pre-nursing until I realized the waiting list to get into nursing school was two years!  So I decided to continue my education in English while I waited to get into a nursing school (and I also figured it would be a heck of a lot easier to get in if I already had a degree in something).

I have worked as a care provider for the last two and a half years.  I worked in a nursing home for the first two and now I work as a private home healthcare provider for a person with Alzheimer’s disease.  I found the experience to be both rewarding and frustrating at times.  Working with only one individual is a lot easier than caring for 30 in one unit.  I feel the one on one interaction, and the fact that the lady I care for is still in her home has helped her disease from progressing.

I am originally from New Mexico and I find Colorado a lot more interesting but occasionally miss my homeland.  I love reading (but only books I am not assigned which makes being an English major difficult), Tim Burton films, music (I’m really into Costello right now and the occasional Sigur Ros).  I have been practicing Bikrim’s yoga for the last three or four months and have found the only thing that relieves any and all stress carried by the body.
